Technical Project Manager
Overview
Akamai’s Network Standards group seeks a Technical Project Manager to manage and coordinate projects that span multiple teams. You will:
• Work with leadership, program management, and subject matter experts to identify and manage scope for project phases
• Communicate project progress to stakeholders
• Identify scope changes and impact to estimated timelines
• Identify and manage dependencies on external teams
• Work with product owners to reserve time for project tasks
• Manage stakeholder expectations, especially with change that results from these projects
• Work with leaders, skilled professionals and experts across many functional areas within the Networks organization.
You must be able to track multiple projects across multiple teams within Network Standards and synchronize tasks that have dependencies on external teams. You will be at the vanguard of initiatives to improve quality, increase efficiency, and reduce operational expenses. The projects you lead will empower teams across Networks to spend their time and effort on their best, most meaningful work.
You must:
• Be extremely organized, motivated, and technologically oriented.
• Have an established and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks while balancing costs and time.
• Be able to facilitate communication across disparate teams, anticipate and minimize roadblocks, control scope, and accurately estimate timelines.
• Be able to prioritize effectively, work collaboratively, and coordinate the activities of geographically distributed teams in a fast-paced environment.
You will be working alongside engineering leadership and must be comfortable communicating with and presenting to management. You must be able to advocate for change and manage the complexities of change communication across a geographically distributed, international organization.

The Networks organization builds and maintains Akamai’s Edge Platform—one of the world’s largest distributed platforms. This platform handles a significant portion of the world’s Internet traffic.
The Network Standards team identifies, communicates, recommends, and improves best practices in design, deployment, documentation, training, and workflows across the Networks organization. It consists of experts in network design, technical communication, business analysis, and data analysis

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet all of the following education and experience requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical or project management discipline
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with project management, ideally in a cross-functional technical delivery capacity
Required Skills
• At least two years of experience:
o Practicing project management principles and practices
o Developing and leveraging strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
o Organizing information and communicating it effectively, whether written or verbal
o Delivering projects on time and on budget while communicating with stakeholders
o Business process, operations, and metric definition best practices
o Leading and managing change across a heterogenous organization
Desired Skills
• Familiarity with JIRA, Agile, and Lean Six Sigma
• Certification (PMP, etc.) in Project Management
• Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with people who work in different departments
• A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
