Akamai is looking for a junior / entry-level lawyer with demonstrated abilities to be a business partner for highly motivated and technology savvy clients. The successful candidate will be expected to handle a variety of commercial transactions (both buy and sell side) and provide legal and business advice to different team(s). The role will include handling, prioritizing, and following through on numerous projects simultaneously. This will provide excellent opportunities to learn the many aspects of Akamai’s business, as well as the challenges associated with working on diverse matters with other highly motivated, top-performing professionals, at a fun, dynamic and fast paced company.

Akamai Legal is a highly-experienced global team of lawyers and other legal professionals dedicated to helping drive Akamai’s next phase of growth. We embrace the challenge of working at the intersection of rapid innovation and constantly evolving laws and welcome the opportunity to draw on our collective legal expertise to provide creative solutions to business problems. The Legal team currently consists of over 50 professionals located in the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Poland, Spain, Singapore, Australia, India, China, and Japan.
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, comment on and negotiate contracts and other commercial transactional documents in English with Akamai’s suppliers, customers, and partners.
Researching on legal and regulatory risk associated with 3rd party suppliers, sales, networks.
Assure conformity and consistency in application of Akamai legal and business policies and practices.
Participate in efforts to enhance the legal department’s overall performance.
Handle other tasks that arise from time to time and require the attention of the Akamai legal department.
Basic Qualifications
Law degree.
Strong verbal and written communications skills in English (ready to conduct legal negotiations over the phone and/or video call).
Proven track record of international experience (ERASMUS scholarship, ERASMUS Plus traineeship or LL.M. program).
Completion of legal courses in foreign languages and/or foreign law programs.
Good understanding of difference between common law and civil law system.
Understanding of IT/technology sectors.
Desired Qualifications
Excellent contract drafting skills.
2 years of entry-level legal professional experience (possible pre-qualification experience) preferably in the area of contract review (NDA, MSA, Software licenses, SAAS)
General understanding of commercial law, intellectual property rights, data protection and labor law.
Second foreign language is a plus (e.g. French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, or Russian).
Ability to apply policy language and company best practice to discrete situations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, to multi-task and provide follow-through on projects.
Ability to work in multicultural and very diverse environment with colleagues and internal clients located around the world.
Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality and highly team-oriented approach to work.
