Overview

As a Sales Development Executive, you are someone who has the skills, experience, and desire to successfully introduce our technologies, build traction within the world’s largest companies and assist the Enterprise Sales Executives in building out and managing the Lighthouse Account pipeline. Responsibilities include generating new business through prospecting with outbound calling, email, inbound inquiries and marketing campaigns.  You must possess a sound understanding of strategic / value based sales and sales best practices, and understand the level of effort necessary to reach all relevant parties that influence the conversation. You must have experience and success as a sales development, business development, or inside sales rep, and be prepared to take that experience to the next level to use a variety of tools to assist in the management of the sales cycle and the closure of new business.


As a Sales Development Executive you will: 

* Meet or exceed new opportunity targets

* Generate new sales opportunities in your defined region through aggressive prospecting, networking and marketing.

* Manage individual pipeline of opportunities to support monthly goals 

* Collaborate with marketing teams to qualify leads, measure program effectiveness, and provide feedback

* Set up meetings and pass qualified opportunities to the Enterprise Sales Executives

* Produce a set number of meetings and qualified opportunities on a weekly basis

* Call cold and warm targets to introduce technology

* Explore/investigate interests and needs in solutions; provide high-level overview of solutions

* Articulate and demonstrate product concepts to a technical audience

* Update SalesForce on daily basis

* Attend Weekly pipeline and team meetings

* Track all opportunities to ensure progress

* Open to travel to various industry events (1–2 / qtr.)


About the Team

Akamai’s Enterprise team is the company’s newest division, and is poised to become Akamai’s next big growth engine. Our Enterprise Go-to-Market (GTM) team comprises all functions of sales and marketing including sales, technical pre-sales, channels, and marketing. This dynamic team is responsible for the success of the GTM strategy in accelerating sales growth, driving pipeline, building repeatable sales models, and ensuring market awareness and thought leadership across key verticals with a focus on the Corporate CIO and IT buyers. Our goal is to assist our customers in attaining their cloud transformation strategies by securing, protecting, and optimizing all Enterprise applications, users, and devices as a service in the cloud.


Required Experience

* Minimum 6 years of overall experience 


Required Skills 

* 2+ years’ experience in an inside sales, prospecting, or customer facing role; ideally within the IT industry


Desired Skills

* BA/BS Degree in business or related field 

* Excellent organizational and communication skills 

* Comfortable reaching out via phone ("cold") prospects

* History of consistently exceeding individual goals and targets

* Experience selling SaaS, Security or networking products

* Strong and self-confident communicator

* Proven experience of being persuasive, influential and professional on the phone.

* Track record of successfully identifying opportunities and closing new business.

* Experience and understanding of the Internet and related services.

* Quick learner and self-starter with an entrepreneurial work ethic

* Results driven; committed to creating new business opportunities

* Commitment to maintaining the corporate culture and strengthening the team environment.
