Product Manager (Network Technology)

As a Product Manager - Network Technology you will be responsible for:

• Defining Network Technologies long-term product strategy, individual product life-cycles and roadmaps. Coordinate those with the business unit management and sales representatives and align them with their go-to-market roadmaps.

• Working directly with business units to evaluate and PoC new product innovations and execution for products.

• Evaluating and managing strategic product partner relations, where applicable combined with existing account management, to define new product offerings and meet Akamai’s customer requirements.

• Developing comprehensive business analysis and financial models to support business cases and long-term product planning.

• Be the Go-to expert in industry trends and the competitive landscape relevant to the direct and adjacent markets for the product lines of responsibility.

• Developing and analyzing Network Technologies product KPI’s and operational product metrics to advise product teams, business units and other internal stakeholder.

• Attending and actively contributing to relevant industry, governance and internet standard events, in order to expand continued market knowledge, analyse and evaluate the competitive market landscape and exchange and negotiate with relevant industry contacts. (25 – 30% travel is required).

About the Team

The Network Technology department is responsible for Akamai’s interconnection standards, datacenter and network architecture as well as the network and hardware engineering. The team drives technical change, by developing effective and competitive solutions which redefine the network platform and ensure Akamai continues to stay a stakeholder in the future of the world. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent,

• 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or its equivalent.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of experience with product management, product development or equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of experience with internet-related technologies, specifically in the network industry.

• 2+ years of experience in the interconnection and CDN market.

Desired Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Ability to assess new markets, analyze business opportunities and execute against them.

• Understanding of CDN, networking, interconnection and cloud technologies, as well as ability to learn new technologies quickly.

• Understanding of product management discipline – including product lifecycle management and some experience with product line strategic planning.

• Highly self-motivated and self-sufficient.

• Creative and out-of-the-box thinker.

• Proven track record in working within a cross-functional environment to drive results.

• Great communicator, and mitigates between marketing and engineering.

• Ability to gather data from the market and customers to analytically determine business priorities.
