Platform Operations Engineer II
Overview:
This position will offer the opportunity to work in Operations with new acquisitions. You will be an integral part of our plan to centralize all operations inside Akamai, focusing on the integration of the aforementioned new acquisitions. While this position requires a high level of technical knowledge, the majority of the work we do is in discovery and project management. The ability to walk into a brand new environment and learn how it works in a short amount of time is crucial.
About the Team:
The GPO Integrations team was recently created to assist new acquisitions in moving their technical operations into the Akamai superstructure. We concentrate on monitoring, alerting, production servers, and infrastructure, and also assist with helping operations staff navigate within Akamai. We are committed to working together as a team, and to providing both answers and camaraderie to our new co-workers.
The GPO Integrations team sits within Akamai’s general Operations department, and partners with many of the multinational teams that help run Akamai’s hundreds of thousands of production servers.
Responsibilities:
● Provide leadership/mentorship and participate in creating high level project plans to integrate the operations of a newly acquired company into Akamai's.
● Analyze performance and stability issues in production environments.
● Evaluate improving systems security, performance, monitoring, and management.
● Analyze infrastructure requirements, to determine how to move servers and services into Akamai.
● Discover technology in the newly acquired company that can be integrated into existing services within Akamai.

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Required Requirements:
● 5+ years experience working in datacenters.
● 3+ years experience working with server and network hardware.
● 3+ years experience with distributed cloud technologies.
● 3+ years project/product management experience.
● 3+ years technical writing experience.
● 2+ years operational integrations experience.
● Ability to travel 2-8 weeks a year
Desired Qualifications:
● Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong attention to detail, and excellent problem solving skills.
● Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-motivated, able to work in a sometimes fast paced, chaotic environment.
